I recently restyled my dresser and wanted to show you how by adding thrifted objects such as a silver plate, a stone tray, marble pedestal bowl, giant seashell, even using a glass blown flower, I was able to create this romantic vignette that feels very timeless and personal. I leaned an oil portrait of myself— when I was 17 years old I sat through an art class as a muse while every student painted a portrait of me. This oil painting was the one the teacher gifted me. It’s very special and sentimental to me. I love styling with coffee table books- for that added height. I’ve included some vintage picture frames of my husband & I during our dating years.
Using personal collected objects such as a giant seashell to hold your jewelry is fun and unique. I love adding fresh flowers on my dresser to bring in natures beauty, here are some foraged eucalyptus branches that drape ever so gracefully from a rustic ceramic vase. I love their muted green color. The golden mirror is actually a tray that I used to display my perfumes for many years was a gift from a friend and here I decided to hang it on the wall. I love the romantic shape and the tiny roses on it. I feel like it adds a touch of whimsy and reflects the light.
My recent thrifted find was this antique hurricane glass candle holder. It’s simply perfection. The intricate etched glass detail and the scalloped glass lid. Makes me think of the hands that held it in the past. Who did it belong to? The hours of candle light it brought to a reader. The light flickers with charm adding a warm glow, it was like the missing piece to my dresser.
Using a silver tray to display orphaned pair of delicate gloves, a watch that my mother in law gifted me years ago— some thrifted bracelets and my ever growing collection of favorite vintage earrings makes it that much more beautiful and visually appealing.
I simple adore finding glass lidded vessels, I keep random trinkets inside such as matches, hair clips, small perfumes. This marble pedestal bowl is one of my favorite thrifted finds years ago. Ive not only used it for fruits on my kitchen counter, Ive used it to hold black and white pictures of my family and now it graces me on my dresser and holds some glasses. If you stumble across a pedestal marble bowl, don’t think twice snatch it up! Im obsessed with silver trays and plates. I will be one of those grandmas that will have a gorgeous collection one day over filled in my cupboard.
Putting on accessories, spraying perfume to me is one of my last steps I take on before considering my “complete outfit” When you have a personal display of beautiful objects and jewelry to choose from- it just makes it that much more enjoyable and presentable. It’s like your own little shop. I feel like a sophisticated lady. After all I am a girl and yes I like to dress up sometimes. I appreciate my collection and love to restyle and re arrange it from time to time. Hope you felt inspired and can start your own little collection in the new year. Would love to see it!
